James Blake - A Case Of You (Official Video)
Two of my favorite things:
1) James Blake, covering Joni Mitchell in all his Brit glory.
2) Pretty brunette actresses… :D
Enjoy.
The following goodies have been released:
Feist - Metals (Interscope)
MuteMath - Odd Soul (Teleprompt)
We Were Promised Jetpacks - In The Pit of the Stomach (Fatcat)
James Blake - Enough Thunder EP (Universal)
The Naked and Famous - No Light (Universal)
James Blake - “Not Long Now” From his upcoming album, Enough Thunder, releasing October 10th on Atlas Records.
James Blake & Bon Iver - Fall Creek Boys Choir
As if two beautiful worlds collided and only left this song in its wake.

Sure, by now James Blake is probably a household name. But let’s delve into who Blake is.
James Blake was born in London, England in October of 1988. Yes, he is only 22 years old and one of the biggest producers out there. He attended Goldsmiths, University of London studying popular music.
He released his first EP in 2009, “Air & Lack Thereof”. After releasing his second EP, “CMYK”, the DJs at BBC Radio were catching on, even calling “CMYK” the Record of the Week. This garnered Blake a good bit of airplay in the UK.
Blake’s cover of Feist’s “Limit to Your Love” debuted at number 47 on the UK Singles Chart and was even selected as the Hottest Record in the World. He came in second on a poll of likely successful musicians, the Sound of 2011.
The release of his self-titled album peaked at number 9 in the UK.
Although Blake’s career is still in an infancy, his exciting new style is something to keep tabs on.
Ahhh.
A good mood on a Monday morning is extremely rare for me, so I’ll take the opportunity to share my favorite albums at the moment.
Not of the year, not of all time, but pretty much just right now.
The Antlers - Burst Apart

I talk about this album a lot, but for good reason. It’s very spacial, very deep, and very ambient. It’s very melodic and peaceful. From front to back it is an album for the decade and worth multiple listens.
James Blake - James Blake

I know he is the “it” guy right now, and I get why. His songs are finely produced, experimental but not enough to distract you. His voice is soothing and beautiful. The best time to listen to this album is at night, in my honest opinion.
Active Child - Curtis Lane

I’m pretty sure that when Pat Grossl releases his debut in late August you will see Active Child on this list again. This EP is addicting. Pat’s harp along with his synthetic beats, not to mention his pretty boy falsetto, makes this a must.
Ra Ra Riot - The Rhumb Line

There is just something about this album that keeps me coming back. It’s fun, young, and full of energy. The small string section gives it a very organic flair.
Ray LaMontange - Trouble

This is one of my all-time favorite albums. When I have no idea what to listen to, I default to this. Trouble has made the worst days into perfect days. Ray’s gravel and the simplicity in the chord structure is perfect for passive and active listening
What have YOU been listening to lately?
I remember hearing this song over a year ago and being like… what in the world is this? It’s about the same way I felt about Passion Pit:
“I don’t know if I hate this song, more than anything in this world, or if I’m strangely obsessed with everything about it?”
As it turns out, it was the latter. James Blake never ceases to amaze me in each of his live performances.
Here is James Blake performing “The Wilhelm Scream” on Jimmy Fallon.
I don’t know if the U.S. can keep up with the U.K. indie scene.
Ahhhh. It has been cloudy here in L.A. for a couple of days and I thought it would give me a perfect opportunity to put together a list for overcast skies. Ch-ch-ch-check it out.
